I said your kidding,he said no, see you next time.
Ah well. The launch ended up being a bit soft at 1.76 but it pulled like a 12 year old school boy to 131 mph.
For a 10.86.
Pretty happy with that but I know its got another two tenths in it.

Cheers Paul

Ford unleashes matte black Focus RS500

Ford has gone and ruined our progress by revealing the Focus RS500 – a matte black, even higher than high-performance version of the already incredible Focus RS hot hatch. Someone get our therapist on the line!

In our minds, only a chrome-covered warrior of a hot hatch could go head-to-head with what must be the most ingenious pairing in decades – the high-performance version of the Focus (Britain's best-selling car for more than 10 years) with matte black paint. That's an absolute masterstroke from Ford! And the commendable work doesn't stop there…

The American marque has given the the RS500 the standard RS's 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine, boosting its power from 300bhp to 345bhp, meaning the RS500 sprints from 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds (down from 5.9 seconds), though the top speed of 163mph remains the same as the basic RS.

The Focus hot hatch’s sporty aesthetic gets cranked up an extra notch or two thanks to that aforementioned matte black paintjob, matching 19-inch alloy wheels, a gloss black trapezoidal lower front grille and splitter, and a twin-blade rear spoiler – culminating in a car that looks ready for high-octane racing.

The RS500, a car Ford is limiting to just 500 units, is making its global debut at the 2010 Leipzig Motor Show in Germany on 9 April. Yep, not the grandest of occasions on the car show circuit, but if we can secure a cheap easyJet flight, we'll be there. Just don’t tell our therapist

While we set up a website to help raise funds so we can own the limited-edition RS500 (heck, we’ll be happy with a plane ticket to Germany), you can see the car in all its matte black glory in the gallery below.

Have you say in the forum here.http://theblueovalnetwork.com/forum/ford-focus-forum-26/ford-focus-rs500/

source http://www.orange.co.uk

This is the jacket that was given when purchasing a vehicle, it is used and shows signs of wear, (as it is 30 years old) however externally it is in good condition, the red lining is torn inside. (It would not be noticeable if jacket was lodged inside a frame and hung on wall, and could be replaced if really desired however Ive kept it original). It is now signed by Alan Moffart under the tag as well which is not shown on the photograph. Size would be large but the tag is no longer readable.

This is the ultimate accessory for any Ford GT Fan and in particular any XWGTHO Owner looking to complete their collection. It is very rare and highly valuable item, the XWGTHO saw the debut of the tyre burning kangaroo and emblem on the jacket.

This is not a reproduction, it is genuine, rare and came with the purchase of an XWGTHO.

Any questions feel free to ask.

I need some help here. I put a new transmission in my 1975 ford f-100. Its the np-435 4 speed with granny gear. I put the transmission in and now the clutch wont work. I pulled the bellhousing back but not off and bolted the transmission to the bellhousing and bolted it back up to the motor. Now that i have everything in the clutch linkage wont fit right anymore. There is a rod that comes off the linkage and sits in the throwout bearing arm, mine no longer wants to sit in there. when the clutch is depressed it will push the throwout bearing about an inch but wont compress the clutch. and when i pull the clutch off the floor( yeah, the clutch doesnt want to rebound by itslef either)the rod falls out of the throwout bearing arm. When it off the floor the rod sits about and inch away from the t.b.a If anyone has some insight to this problem please let me know, as i have already lost weeks of time and a tooth and several doctor visits to try and figure this problem.

By Press Release
7:00 PM Wed 10 February, 2010
Source: V8 Supercars Australia
Sydney: V8 Supercars Australia has proven its credentials as “The Greatest Show on Wheels” by securing international music sensation P!nk as the sport’s ambassador from 2010 through to 2012. The announcement will be made at the annual Season Launch tonight, held at Stage 3, Fox Studios, where the crème de la crème of the motor sport, media and entertainment world will gather together to be the first to see the brand new commercial starring the feisty American rocker.

V8 Supercars Australia Chairman Tony Cochrane said,

“This is also the biggest campaign, by a long, long way, that V8 Supercars has embarked on and let me tell you we’ve done some big things in our history. It is an enormous coup for our sport to have P!nk as an ambassador for the next three years and we are very proud to have her on board.

“V8 Supercars is about growth and growing our audiences. We have proven in a relatively short amount of time that V8 Supercars is a world class product on and off the track. Again with this announcement we are setting a very high benchmark.

“So why P!nk? She’s the greatest female artist on the planet in my books. She’s not afraid to be different. She’s bold, she’s outspoken and she’s unapologetic. She’s the most popular modern day artist in this country by a very long margin. She’s cool! For all of those reasons V8 Supercars and P!nk are the perfect DNA match.”

The commercial which was filmed in Sydney during P!nk’s 2009 FUNHOUSE TOUR, airs on national television from 6am Thursday 11 February showcasing P!nk with an all star cast of V8 Supercars drivers including, Jamie Whincup, Will Davison, Rick Kelly, Mark Winterbottom, Fabian Coulthard and James Courtney.

“I’m in LA where I just finished soaking everybody at the Grammys, which was really fun,” says P!nk,

“I want everybody to see my new V8 Supercar commercial that I’m really, really excited about. Dave Meyers my buddy out here in the US directed it and he flew all the way to Australia for it at the end of my last tour.

“I’m stoked about it, it’s awesome. We got to test drive the cars while we were there and it has been a really fun ride. I didn’t have to drive with Carey Hart so I’m alive! I’m really excited about the new race season.”

Believed to be one of the largest advertising productions undertaken in Australian sport, the new V8 Supercars commercial was directed by world renowned Hollywood music video director Dave Meyers who flew to Sydney from LA for the shoot. In his ten-year directing career, Meyers has won a host of awards and worked with some of the industry’s biggest stars including P!nk, JLo, Aerosmith, Janet Jackson, Jay-Z and Britney Spears.

Ford Australia today announced a new partnership with Dick Johnson's Queensland-based V8 Supercar team, Jim Beam Racing, for the 2010 season.

Jim Beam Racing will compete in the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series with direct factory support from Ford, in addition to the engineering and technical assistance the team received during 2009, following an internal review of its motorsport sponsorship program.

A new financial package will see the Ford logo and corporate branding make its return to the Jim Beam Racing V8 Supercars following three months of intensive discussions between Ford Australia President and CEO Marin Burela and Jim Beam Racing team co-owner Charlie Schwerkolt.

"Ford is extremely pleased to be able to expand its partnership with Jim Beam Racing for 2010 and offer the team enhanced support for the upcoming season," said Ford Australia President and CEO, Marin Burela.

"Dick Johnson is an icon of the sport and a motorsport legend. His name and his team have been synonymous with the Ford brand over a long period of time, so it's fitting that we can continue to be so inextricably linked in the world of motorsport in Australia."

Jim Beam Racing was one of the best performing Ford teams in 2009, finishing the year on a high with James Courtney winning the final race of the season at the Sydney Telstra 500, so they are well placed to carry that momentum into the new season.

"The discussions with Ford, in particular Marin Burela, have been refreshing and our performance on track in 2009 has certainly helped in our discussions to re-engage in 2010," said Jim Beam Racing team co-owner Charlie Schwerkolt.

"It is such a positive move by Ford to increase its support of the team and, in turn, its ultimate support of the V8 Supercar category as a whole, and we look forward to a great partnership in 2010."

Jim Beam Racing co-owner Dick Johnson has also reiterated the team's pleasure at the enhanced partnership with Ford.

"This team and I have had a long association with Ford and I am very pleased that we have been able to enhance that partnership this year."

Jim Beam Racing's new livery, including Ford branding, will be seen for the first time at the V8 Supercars season launch in Sydney tonight.

In a massive coup for the Gold Coast, the biggest annual event in Queensland will be entirely re-branded and transformed into a massive ‘Gold Coast Su...

In a massive coup for the Gold Coast, the biggest annual event in Queensland will be entirely re-branded and transformed into a massive ‘Gold Coast SuperCarnivale’ weekend.

The Queensland Government and V8 Supercars Australia jointly announced that the Gold Coast fixture will be wholly re-invigorated in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of the event this October.

The emphasis will be on extremely affordable ticketing and be all-inclusive of entertainment and live concerts. The world class V8 Supercars Australia events team headed up by Gold Coaster, Shane Howard, will take charge of the Gold Coast SuperCarnivale.

An additional focus will be on attracting interstate and international visitors back to the event.

“I would argue that no single event in Australian history has undergone the dramatic changes that are planned for this year’s SuperCarnivale on the Gold Coast,” V8 Supercars Australia Chairman Tony Cochrane said.

“Aside from a massive reduction to the size of the site it is also our absolute goal to transform it into a family style event.”

For the first time in the history of V8 Supercars, the event will become the third endurance race on the calendar alongside the prestigious L&H 500 at Phillip Island and Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000. It will be raced over 600kms, 300kms each day, with each V8 Supercar team including an international co-driver

“In total we will have 17 international drivers, one for each V8 Supercar team, from around 14 different countries, driving for our teams, alongside our drivers across a 600km endurance weekend,” Mr Cochrane said.

Mr Cochrane confirmed that former Gold Coast winner Scott Pruett (USA), placegetter Alex Tagliani (Canada), reigning Australian Le Mans 24 Hour winner David Brabham, former Formula 1 and Champ Car stars Mark Blundell (England) and Christian Fittipaldi (Brazil) have already signed as co-drivers.

The complete race format and all 17 co-drivers will be announced at the event launch in April.

“There is no question that this event will have everything for everybody, including a massive international component in our visiting drivers. Their presence alone will spark massive interest around the world and compliments new world-wide television deals we are announcing next Wednesday at our season launch.”

The event, to be promoted by V8 Supercar Events, will be part of the inaugural V8 Grand Slam which could offer up to $2.5 million in prize money for a driver that wins the Gold Coast event, Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 and the Sydney Telstra 500 in Sydney in the same year.

Key changes to the precinct include:

- The “footprint” of the circuit reduced from the current 4.49km to 2.96km, freeing up approximately 40% of the site for residents, business and other users

- The total build/dismantle time reduced by five weeks (from 14 weeks to 9)

- The event will run over three days – Friday to Sunday

- A shortened circuit to allow for the separation to the Surfers Paradise precinct

- Utilising the Broadwater Park for nightly entertainment featuring Australian and International artists – all included in the ticket price

Community considerations:

- Minimise disruption to residents

- The focus will be on re-engaging the community to be more inclusive going forward

- The event will have a full time, Gold Coast based General Manager

- A full time Community Liaison person to work in with the community and the Gold Coast City Council

- A Community Committee to oversee the event from all aspects of the local residents, businesses, traffic etc.

- Free up access to Budds Beach

The motorsport component to include:

- For the first time in history V8 Supercars will add a third endurance race to the calendar in addition to iconic races the L&H 500 at Phillip Island and the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000

- The event will form the third leg of the soon to be announced Grand Slam offering a record $2.5 million prize pool

- 17 international drivers from around 14 countries will drive for the 17 V8 Supercar teams

- The international drivers will contest their own race on the Friday in their team V8 Supercar

- The main race will be over 600kms in two races – race one on Saturday and race two on Sunday

- Each race will have driver, fuel and tyre pit stops

Click here to download the Gold Coast concept circuit design (PDF - 1.97MB)

The event will have its new name, new logo and be rebranded to reflect the Gold Coast and the family friendly style of event. It will also have a strong community engagement and consultation process.

WHAT THE INTERNATIONAL DRIVERS HAVE TO SAY…..

SCOTT PRUETT – USA

“The Gold Coast and the October event have been synonymous with the world’s great motorsport events for many years and it is fantastic that this concept has been put together for its 20th anniversary celebrations.

“This will provide a real rejuvenation of the event and take it back to the glory days of the late 90s and early 00s. I loved my years on the Gold Coast, especially my victory in 1997 – ironically that year I was actually on my honeymoon with my wife, Judy.

“My drive in a V8 Supercar at Bathurst later that year was a great experience and one I am looking forward to repeating. I don’t need any excuse to come to Australia, so when I received a call to be part of this program I jumped at the chance.

“I think the opportunity to drive a V8 Supercar on one of the world’s greatest street courses will be pretty attractive to plenty of the world’s great drivers.”

CHRISTIAN FITTIPALDI - BRAZIL

“When I heard about this concept and was contacted about being a part of it I was excited. V8 Supercars have built a fantastic reputation around the world and I am a fan of the Series.

“To have the chance of getting behind the wheel of a V8 Supercar on the streets of the Gold Coast will be fantastic. It is no secret that the Gold Coast was one of my favourite events anywhere in the world and I was fortunate to be a part of it through the most recent glory years of US open-wheel racing in the late 90s.

“I believe this concept, combined with the venue and enthusiasm of the promoter and fans, will make it one of the most desirable events in the world for any driver.

“I had one of my worst experiences at the track when I broken my leg at the first chicane in 1997, but even the way I was taken care of after that drama leaves fond memories of Surfers Paradise and Queensland with me.

“I cannot wait.”

MARK BLUNDELL – ENGLAND

“You have some pretty cool days in your life, but to get a phone call asking if I wanted to drive a V8 Supercar at Surfers Paradise has to be up there among the best.

“Surfers Paradise was always our favourite event on the Champ Car circuit and to have the chance to head back to one of the world’s great playgrounds to race a V8 Supercar on one of the world’s best street tracks is going to be fantastic.

“It will be a like a reunion of sorts for some of us, but you can be sure the competition is going to be as fierce as ever. This will be no exhibition event. We will be taking part in an event where driver’s championship hopes will be on the line and we will all be doing our best to keep the points ticking over for them.

“V8 Supercars has grown in stature tremendously in recent years and I think this concept will make the Surfers Paradise event one of the most anticipated in world motorsport this season.

“It will be like Christmas a couple of months early. Let’s hope there is a decent present at the end of it.”

ALEX TAGLIANI – CANADA

“The Gold Coast is one of the most special places in the world for me – it was where I met my Australian wife, Bronte. I have also had some good results over the years, including a third for Team Australia in 2006 in a Champ Car.

“That same year I drove at Bathurst with Marcus Marshall in the V8 Supercar Series. That gave me a taste of V8 Supercar racing which I have been keen to experience again as the V8 Supercars are one of the great categories of world racing.

“After that experience racing with Marcus Marshall, I have made no secret of the fact that I would like to spend a couple of seasons racing V8s in Australia once my open-wheel career is finished. This event will be a good thing for my CV – and I guess for a few other drivers who will be lining up from countries all over the world.”

DAVID BRABHAM – AUSTRALIA

“Unfortunately I have never had the chance to race on the Gold Coast before, but all that is about to change. The event is well known around the world and it has always been of extra interest to me because the Gold Coast is home to most of my family (including dad Sir Jack Brabham who won the 1959-60 and 66 F1 world titles and brother, Geoff, who is also a former Le Mans 24 Hour winner).

“It is one of the world’s toughest street circuits and attacking it in a V8 Supercar will be no easy task, especially for those who will be driving one for the first time. Fortunately I have done a few laps in a V8 over the years and I am looking forward to getting out there.

“I have a full season of ALMS racing for Highcroft Racing ahead of me in the US and other selected events, including the Le Mans 24 Hour, but then we head home for what should be a terrific week.”

Ticketing and on sale dates will be released shortly via the official V8 Supercar website

http://www.v8supercars.com.au/content/hero_news/february_2010/gold_coast_supercarnivale_re-invigorated/

The Monster World Rally Team released pictures of Ken Block's 2010 Ford Fiesta livery to make its debut at the Sno*Drift Rally, January 29-30th!

Earlier this year, Ken Block, co-founder of DC Shoes, came on board the Monster World Rally Team to campaign a Ford Fiesta in in the Rally America Championship and a Ford Focus in the World Rally Championship. Until today, many speculated what the car would look like and now fans will get to see a preview of what is to come at the first round of the Rally America Series.

The Sno*Drift Rally - held in the middle of winter in northeastern lower Michigan - takes place where snowmobiles and Elk probably outnumber cars. As in past years the rally is headquartered in Atlanta, Michigan but it also passes through the towns of Lewiston and Hillman.

Winter conditions in Michigan are hard to predict, but some combination of fresh snow and glazed ice can always be expected. Current rules restrict rally cars from using studded ice tires which makes finding traction extremely difficult for the drivers. If there has been good snowfall in the days leading up to the rally expect to see large snowbanks lining the roads. These snowbanks can be a help and a hazard for drivers as they try to stay on the road. Dress for warmth and don't forget to bring your snowmobile

Timeline Unveiled for ROUSH 2011 Mustang Lineup
LIVONIA, Mich. – ROUSH® Performance, the leader in specialty Mustang builds with more than 16,000 vehicles on the road, unveiled the timeline for producing their highly-anticipated 2011 Ford Mustang conversions.

In April, shortly after Ford’s Job 1 begins on the 2011 model year Mustang, ROUSH® will offer their Stage 1™ and Stage 2™ versions. Using the new Ford 5.0-Liter, V-8 engine, both of these cars will have 412 horsepower and 390 ft.-lb. or torque, all while reaching an estimated 25 highway miles per gallon of fuel economy. Also new for the 2011 model year is the standard six-speed transmission, something that Mustang fans have clamored for over the past several years.

The ROUSH® Stage 1™ package consists primarily of aesthetic changes such as the addition of the OEM-quality ROUSH body kit. The ROUSH® Stage 2™ adds a suspension and handling package in addition to the appearance upgrades.

“The 2011 ROUSH® Stage 1™ and Stage 2™ Mustangs will represent an incredible value by blending appearance and handling with an amazing base Ford engine package,” said Jack Roush. “I expect that the 2011 Stage 1™ and Stage 2™ ROUSH® Mustangs could come close to matching the performance of some ROUSHcharged™ Mustangs we have offered in prior model years which will make them extremely exciting to drive and at a reasonable starting price point.”

For powertrain models, such as the ROUSH® 427R®, the engineering team is already hard at work developing the 2011 model year ROUSHcharger® and determining what modifications can be done to the 5.0-Liter engine. ROUSH® 2011 model year powertrain vehicles, however, are not likely to be available until late summertime.

“We have a history of increasing the horsepower on each model year 427R® Mustang, and that should continue with the 2011 as well. However, exactly what the horsepower and torque numbers will be is too early to tell at this point as the engineering teams are still working through a myriad of details on the new five-liter engine,” explained Jack Roush.

For more information on the development and timing of the 2011 ROUSH® Mustang lineup, continue to watch www.ROUSHperformance.com.

Based in Livonia, Mich., “The Art of Performance Engineering” takes place at ROUSH® Performance.
“Come on, baby, don't you want to go… sweet home Chicago” goes the classic blues song by Robert Johnson. Had the song been written today it might have been about the next-generation Ford Explorer, which will be produced at Ford’s Chicago Assembly Plant beginning in the fourth quarter of this year, the company announced today.

Ford is investing nearly $400 million in its Chicago manufacturing facilities to launch production of the new, fuel-efficient Ford Explorer. The company also will add 1,200 new jobs to staff a second production shift at Chicago Assembly Plant and increase production at the nearby Chicago Stamping Plant.

The next-generation Explorer will be built at the Chicago Assembly Plant on a flexible assembly line alongside the new Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS sedans. Ford’s $400 million investment includes approximately $180 million in manufacturing investment at the Chicago sites and about $220 million for launch and engineering costs. In addition, Ford will be making significant investment in supplier tooling to support next-generation Explorer production.

Explorer to have better fuel economy, inflatable seat belts
The new Explorer will deliver at least 25 percent better fuel economy than the current model. The vehicle will feature unibody construction, Ford’s EcoBoost engine technology, a six-speed transmission and lightweight materials. Ford will provide full details about the new Explorer later this year.

In addition, the next-generation Explorer will debut the auto industry’s first-ever production inflatable seat belts, designed to provide additional protection for rear-seat occupants – often children and older passengers who can be more vulnerable to head, chest and neck injuries. The inflatable rear seat belts spread crash forces over five times more area of the body than conventional seat belts, which helps to reduce pressure on the chest and to control head and neck motion for rear-seat passengers. Ford eventually plans to offer inflatable seat belt technology on other vehicles globally.

An economic infusion
In planning for the company’s future manufacturing presence in the state, Ford worked closely with Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn, who led an effort in passing legislation that allows Ford to participate in Illinois’ Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) program, which provides tax incentives to businesses that commit to new investments and create or retain jobs in the state. This legislation allows Ford to participate in the EDGE program through payroll tax credits rather than corporate income taxes.

Ford’s investment of $400 million in Chicago-area manufacturing facilities and Explorer’s fuel economy improvement of at least 25 percent is also supported by Ford’s green partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy. Chicago Assembly Plant is one of 11 Ford facilities in the U.S. participating in the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing Incentives Program initiated by Congress and implemented by the Obama administration. The program is helping to develop advanced technology vehicles and strengthen American manufacturing across the country. Ford, Nissan, Tesla, Fisker and Tenneco are all participants in this initiative.

The current Explorer and Explorer Sport Trac models are built at the company’s Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky. Shifting production of the next-generation Explorer to Chicago Assembly paves the way for Louisville Assembly to undergo transformation to a flexible, fuel-efficient small car plant from a truck-based SUV plant. Ford will begin producing new vehicles at Louisville Assembly based on its global C-car platform in 2011. The specific models will be named at a later date.

The Chicago Assembly Plant, opened in 1924, currently has approximately 1,200 employees working on one shift. Ford’s Chicago Stamping Plant, which opened in 1956, has approximately 700 employees on two shifts. Opened in 1955, Louisville Assembly Plant has approximately 1,000 employees operating on one shift.

Quotes
“The new Explorer will redefine the SUV for the modern era – retaining the capability customers want while delivering superb fuel efficiency, comfort and convenience. This investment underscores Ford’s commitment to building world-class, fuel-efficient vehicles in America and creating new jobs that will contribute to our nation’s economic recovery.”
– Mark Fields, Ford’s President of The Americas

“Our Chicago Assembly Plant – with its excellent work force, lean and flexible manufacturing processes, and proud history of making great Ford vehicles – is the ideal choice for building the new Explorer. The plant successfully has launched two new vehicles in the past two years and our Chicago employees consistently deliver with an eye on quality, efficiency and safety.”
– Jim Tetreault, Ford Vice President, North America Manufacturing

“Governor Quinn immediately understood the importance of helping Ford by proposing and passing legislation that provides us with an alternative way to claim and secure these important tax credits. We are grateful for his support of Ford and auto manufacturing in Illinois, and want to thank him for his leadership.”
– Mark Fields, Ford’s President of The Americas

“The production of the new Ford Explorer will create 1,200 new jobs here in Illinois. The Economic Development for a Growing Economy tax credit, which I put the full weight of my administration behind and signed into law in December, has provided much needed relief to our state’s ailing automotive industry and the necessary incentives for one of our nation’s leading car companies to stay in the Land of Lincoln.”
– Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn

“Ford has been a major presence in our city since 1924 when it opened this plant to make the Model T. The company has demonstrated its commitment to Chicago by spending millions of dollars to modernize the facility in recent years, and I want to thank the company for that commitment and for its faith in Chicago and its residents.”
– Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley
